Senior Portrait headshot at University of Virginia CharlottesvilleThe sunsets off the Rotunda at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville Virginia are some of the most beautiful sunsets, especially with diffuse cloud cover. For Maren's high school senior portrait photography session, we chose the campus of the University of Virginia to photograph her against the backdrop of wonderful greenery and the architecture that Thomas Jefferson loved so much with it's Roman influence or Columns and arches, using brick and stone, granite and marble. The Rotunda, fashioned after his favorite building in Rome, the Pantheon, with it's two story configuration sits at the North end of the famed Lawn, where a select group of students have the opportunity to have their housing. The view from the second story of the Rotunda affords a look at The Corner, one of the central areas for the College students at the University for hanging out, having coffee, grabbing a bite to eat and meeting up with friends. Maren, a high school senior at Albemarle University will attend college in the fall with a much deserved swimming scholarship at the University of Baltimore in Maryland. The light for this photograph was set to expose for ambient light to get the sunset colors in the background, and I lit the front with a Profoto B1X from camera left. Her gorgeous long blond hair she wore straight, and the breeze that was blowing gave it a very pretty shape of motion. Photograph captured with Canon 5DMIII and a Canon 70-200mm F/2.8L II Lens. Settings were ISO 100 at 70mm with an aperture of f/3.5 and a shutter speed of 1/100th of a second. Post processed in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, and finished with Alien Skin Exposures.
